[Livres] How I finished the Barkley!

Immerse yourself in the hell of Barkley through the story of Aurélien Sanchez and the images of Alexis Berg. A gripping book that takes us well beyond an ultra-trail race.

In the small world of ultra-trail, certain names resonate beyond the summits.

There is the UTMB, of course, our Alpine emblem; the Diagonale des fous and its 10,500 meters of elevation in the middle of the Indian Ocean; the Hardrock 100 and its high altitudes; the Western States 100, the pioneer in the field and there is the Barkley… An unclassifiable race. A unique ultra-trail, mysterious, attractive and repellent at the same time. An earthly Odyssey, hellish and cruel, punctuated by impossible trials. to find and endless nights… Five loops like a puzzle, more than 200 kilometers to cover in less than 60 hours in a gloomy forest. And yet, every year, they come back, these runners driven by hubris to challenge Lazarus Lake, the founder of this Tennessee maze. On March 17, 2023, Aurélien Sanchez achieved the impossible. That evening, in the night of Frozen Head Park, after 58 hours 23 of a total adventure, 5 years after the last finisher John Kelly. The Resolution recounts this unexpected exploit which shook the world of ultra-trail running. A book in the colors of effort, masterfully presented by Editions Mons and the eye of photographer Alexis Berg.
