In Décines-Charpieu, the private Muslim high school Al-Kindi is facing an administrative procedure which could lead to the termination of its association contracts with the State.
An inspection report, the details of which were reported by a source close to the matter, highlights serious facts, ranging from educational failings to violations of the values of the Republic.
Inspections indeed note confusion between contract and non-contract statuses. Financial resources allocated to the executive under contract would have been used for activities outside the contract. Likewise, teachers paid for their work under contract would also have been employed for times not covered by this system.
Educational obligations, such as regulatory timetables for certain subjects, would not be respected, which also constitutes a breach of the rules imposed by the State.
Books that advocate violent jihad
Even more worrying, works available in the establishment, notably at the documentation and information center (CDI), would justify violent jihad, advocate violence against homosexual people and convey a retrograde vision of the role of women. Certain books also relate the duties of women towards their husbands in the Muslim religion, in contradiction with the principles of equality.
The establishment's internal regulations are also singled out for requiring girls to wear specific outfits – loose and long clothes, a ban on makeup, piercings or tight clothing – without any similar mention concerning boys. A teacher in charge of the subject “culture of Islam” is said to be active on a YouTube channel where he supports imams convicted or expelled for advocating terrorism, by broadcasting speeches contrary to republican values.
These are the elements which led the Rhône prefecture to initiate adversarial proceedings. A meeting before the academic consultation committee, scheduled for December 12, should allow the management of the establishment to explain these facts.
