SOLIDARITY: Fnac is organizing the 12th edition of the major solidarity collection for the benefit of Libraries Without Borders

-

In over ten years, more than 2.5 million books have been collected thanks to this partnership, the equivalent of a stack of books as high as 200 Eiffel Towers!

This year again, Fnac is committed to the NGO Bibliothèques Sans Frontières (BSF) with the “Grande Collecte Solidaire”. From September 14 to October 6, 2024, the public is invited to drop off their books in good condition in one of the 190 Fnac stores partnering with the operation in mainland France, but also in Martinique, Réunion and Switzerland.

THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS COLLECTION: to offer a second life to books through the actions deployed by BSF, in around thirty countries including France, in favor of access for all to culture and education.

In over ten years, more than 2.5 million books have been collected through this partnership, the equivalent of a pile of books as high as 200 Eiffel Towers! This is the largest book collection in France. The books collected are sorted by genre (children’s literature, novels, comics, documentaries, etc.) then referenced by BSF according to their condition before being sent to libraries, schools or partner associations as part of solidarity and innovative programs.

When they do not correspond to the needs of the beneficiaries of the association’s actions, the books are resold to solidarity structures engaged in the second-hand market. The profits made contribute to financing the sorting and sending of books to the field, but also to supporting the local book economy in developing countries where BSF is required to intervene, thanks to the purchase of books on site.
