This is one of the key events of the end of the year. The village of Barbizon (Seine-et-Marne) hosts the first edition of nature and adventure book fairSaturday December 7 and Sunday December 8 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.), at the Marc-Jacquet cultural space.

Meet at the first nature and adventure book fair in Barbizon

These are Catherine et Remy Marion who are at the origin of this show: an obvious choice for the couple who ran the village's old bookstore, Le Jardin des arts, for 20 years. It must be said that Remy Marion, who lives in Arbonne-la-Forêt, is also a specialist in the genre as an author and director of animal documentaries.

“Having a literary salon in Barbizon is first of all pay homage to the village's literary pastthey explain. The first writer that comes to mind is Stevenson, Of course. Who better than him can represent both nature and adventure. Others lived there or passed through, like George Sand, the Goncourt brothers, André Billy, Hervé Bazin, to name but a few. They found inspiration in the village and the forest, now it’s up to us to make this heritage shine.”

An idea that appealed to the mayor, Gérard Taponat. “This show completes all the approaches and work that we have carried out on culture and nature,” he believes. Barbizon is the village of painters, but it is also that of literature and the forest, to which it is the gateway.” To organize it, Catherine and Remy Marion dug into their address book.

And there will be no less than 20 writers, designers, photographers, naturalists who will follow one another… Once is not customary, it is in Fontainebleau that this first meeting will be launched. The Ermitage cinema will broadcast, in preview, Friday December 6 at 8 p.m., at the Ermitage cinema, the documentary The Wolf Hide.

This will be followed by the intervention of Remy Marion and Tanguy Dumortier (remotely), one of the directors. The following two days will be 100% Barbizonnais. In addition to Remy Marion and Nicolas Dubreuil, the show's premises, other big names will also be present: Clara Arnaud, author who has just collaborated with Yann Arthus-Bertrand, Catherine Faye, writer and journalist.

The show will also welcome Olivier Truc, journalist – specialist in the Nordic and Baltic countries – who writes ethnic thrillers set in Lapland, and Franck Bordas, art publisher and photographer, to name but a few…

A cruise to win

The activities, between round tables and readings, will take place between the Marc Jacquet cultural space and the L'Esquisse hotel-museum. Ahead of the holidays, this show is an ideal opportunity to find an original gift: a book to be signed by its author, by going to the Cyrano bookstore or on the stand of the Michel bookstore. Last point of importance, Exploris, a cruise line specializing in atypical excursions, will offer to win a trip for 2, to the Norwegian islands of Svalbard.
