“Give something to read” in Perros-Guirec: more than 90 books collected for Secours populaire

This year, two bookstores in Perros took part in the “Donate to read” operation for the benefit of Secours populaire. More than 90 have been collected as of Wednesday.

Pierre-Yves Gouézec, volunteer and former librarian specializing in children’s books, did not hide his joy. “The operation is a great success every year. Between the Lannion and Perros-Guirec bookstores, we are one of the associations that benefit the most from the generosity of customers,” he shared.

The operation is organized jointly by the French Bookstore Union and Secours populaire. Customers of volunteer bookstores are invited to add a book for children or adolescents to their purchases.

At Tom bookstore, the operation is well anchored in habits, which resulted in a great collection: 68 books. (Valérie PASQUIERS)

“This is a moment eagerly awaited by our customers”

At the Le Homard Jaune bookstore, which has been participating since last year, the new team was happy to present 25 books including the complete version of a famous comic strip which should make a child happy. At Tom bookstore, manager Magalie Quesque said: “It’s a moment eagerly awaited by our customers. Every year it is a moment of exchange and sharing. Our customers pay real attention to the books they choose.” “This year, the harvest was particularly generous. We collected 68 books for all ages from 0 to 14 years old for a market value of around €700, proof that this operation is now well anchored in the life of our bookstore,” she added.
