Lovers of literature and good deals will meet in Cestas for the 26th edition of the Used Book Fair. This unmissable event will be held on December 6, 7 and 8, 2024 at the Halle du Center Socio-culturel, a strategic location located near the Le Rex cinema and the media library, on Place du Souvenir.

An initiative to democratize reading

Organized by the PEEP association of Cestas, this fair aims to make reading accessible to as many people as possible and put in everyone’s hands. By offering a wide range of books at very attractive prices, it invites young and old to rediscover the pleasure of reading. This event is also part of an eco-responsible approach by offering a second life to books.

An impressive offer for all tastes

With more than 12,000 works in very good condition (2023 figures) available for sale, this fair satisfies all reader profiles. Whether you are passionate about detective novels, a fan of comic books, curious about science fiction or fond of political essays, you will find what you are looking for among a rich and varied selection.

The youngest will not be left out with mangas, illustrated albums and carefully selected children's books. The volunteers on site will be delighted to guide you in finding that rare gem.

Key moments of the event

  • Friday December 6 is reserved for the deposit of books for all those who wish to participate in the sale. This is the perfect opportunity to free up space on your shelvesto make space in your home or even to get rid of your duplicate books. By bringing your works, you give them a second life while allowing others to discover them in turn. For each deposit, a list of 24 books can be saved (€2 per list, with a maximum of 5 lists per person). A 20% commission will be retained on the sale price, contributing directly to the financing of local educational projects. A great way to combine business with pleasure!
  • Saturday December 7, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday December 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.the Hall of the Socio-cultural Center will open its doors to the public for the big sale of the Used Book Fair. These two days are the perfect opportunity to unearth literary treasures among more than 12,000 carefully selected works. Whether to enrich your personal library, find an original Christmas gift or simply discover new readings at a low price, these sales slots are made for you, so don't hesitate to come with family or friends!
  • Sunday at 6 p.m. : Return of unsold books with payment for sales made.

Free entry to a friendly space

Access to the book fair is completely free. Over an area of ​​more than 500 m²visitors will be able to browse the stalls, discover new readings and prepare their Christmas presents.

Exceptional signing sessions

The Cestas 2024 Used Book Fair will also be marked by signing meetings with two talented authors.

  • Denis Lapierre, author of four children's albums.
    • Chestnut”will welcome the youngest and their parents to help them discover the adventures full of tenderness and mischief of a little chestnut in the forest. These stories, aimed at children aged 3 to 7, promise to capture the imagination of little ones.
  • Jacques Zacharie will present his two albums.
    • The manuscript” which transports the reader to the Cours Victor Hugo district. The plot revolves around characters trying to get their hands on a mysterious and valuable document. This story immerses the reader in a period Bordeaux, depicting in detail its streets, churches, libraries, cafes, shops and emblematic buildings such as the Montaigne high school or the police headquarters, Castéja.
    • The Dagger of Ramses”a thrilling intrigue that mixes action, danger and mysteries in the heart of Bordeaux, where the city itself becomes a character in its own right.

Direct support for educational projects

The fair is not limited to promoting reading. It also has an educational vocation. The funds raised will be used to finance school initiatives in the colleges and schools of Cestas. The profits will make it possible to organize cultural outings, shows, educational trips and acquire educational materials.
