The Montagne district in Landivisiau is on the left on Avenue de la Libération. Born after the war, this small district, which at the time only had a few houses surrounded by fields, was gradually built up without losing its charm and Morgane Péron fell in love with it. “It is the highest point in Landivisiau with an altitude of 71 m”. The story goes that this name “La Montagne” is a legacy of the convoys of convicts who, leaving Paris and reaching Brest on foot, feared this climb.

“This neighborhood is a state of mind”

Today, in the gardens, there are goats, chickens, horses, dogs, cats and even a billy goat, “Georges” in Morgane’s garden. “This neighborhood is a state of mind,” says Emmanuel Zilliox, co-president of the neighborhood association, “and our new book box is part of that. Its content is constantly evolving. In just a few weeks, it has become a center of interest and a place for discussion.”

Emmanuel, Estelle his wife and Morgane are passionate residents. “Some were born here and we are happy to welcome all new members to the association which has around twenty families. Our goal is to create links between neighbors to respond to a principle of mutual aid if necessary, in the image of the initial desire of Yves Cabioch and his wife.”

Residents from the very beginning, the couple decided in 1983 to create an association to integrate new residents. “Welcoming, knowing how to offer a drink is essential,” smiles Emmanuel, “We want to perpetuate this tradition of good neighborliness and the book box obviously contributes to this.”
