Gérard Pinot organized the 15th book fair in Mortain (Manche), and perhaps the last, because the manager of the press house will retire at the end of the year.
“The goal is to bring culture and encounters to the South Channel. Gradually, the show became an important event in the region,” indicates Gérard Pinot.
Children’s books, comics, thrillers… All literary genres are represented. This year, the book fair was relocated to Romagny due to work in the Mortain village hall.
Present at the show, Bruno Bertindesigner from Fougères, celebrated the 30th anniversary of his comic strip The Adventures of Vick and Vicky. His drawings are based on his travels and his meetings, notably with the Benedictine monks, at Mont-Saint-Michel and in Egypt.
By meeting the other authors, he was able to open up to other collaborations, before his participation in the first book fair of the Show dans labay festival, in Vains, in April 2025.
Henri Sannierformer presenter of Tout le Sport, on the France 3 channel, was also present for the third time. Affected by a rare autoimmune disease, he wrote a book which will be released in February. Anthony Paysant and Stéphane Jacquetthe two co-authors of a book on the Battle of Mortain, met their readers.
“In this book we have unpublished photos and testimonies from Americans translated into French,” says Antony Paysant. This work met with some success among the local population, who recognized Mortain in the past. This 15th edition was a great success and all participants hope that it will not be the last.
