REVIEW – A terrifying vision of the world of tomorrow where, in an imaginary city, water is rationed and people won't stop talking.

“A dystopia is a fictional story depicting an imaginary society organized in such a way that it is impossible to escape and whose leaders can exercise total authority and without the constraint of separation of powers, over citizens who can no longer exercise their free will.» (Wikipedia) In an imaginary city, people are talking. We don't know who they are, but we hear their voices. There is a soldier, a scientist who studies the life of bees, a man whose wife is dying, an engineer. Voices cross. Little by little, a landscape takes shape. An iceberg has been secured to a hoist, and it is arriving towards the city. It is intended to provide it with drinking water, because the city lacks water. To make room for it, we demolished buildings and tried to rehouse the tenants. Some agree, some don't. The iceberg convoy must be protected. Either way, we are witnessing the end of a world. Otherwise the world.

Cynan Jones's novel is arid, difficult.
