The Var Book Festival highlights freedom

The department book festival returns on November 22, 23 and 24. For this 27e edition, 150 literary events such as major interviews, round tables, workshops or signing sessions will be offered. On this occasion, 450 authors will be present including Bernard Minier, honorary president and author of successful thrillers. « Being president of this festival is a recognition and a responsibility that I take very seriously. »reports the novelist who remembers his Var holidays in his youth.

Véronique Olmi, Dorothée Olliéric, Yann Queffélec and Julien Sandrel will be the guests of honor for this new edition. An important tribute will be paid on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the death of Marcel Pagnol, the child of Provence who spoke of the freedom of a region. An escape game and a meeting with the author will be on the program.

With the 80e anniversary of the landing in Provence and newfound freedom, the Book Festival will look back on the Second World War, the rise of fascism and anti-Semitism, with the novelists Catherine Bardon and Claire Deya. A documentary film, The Battle of the Cedarby Laurent Sorcelle, will tell the story of Youssef Tawk, a Lebanese doctor at the origin of a large-scale reforestation using the ancient cedars of Lebanon. A more topical subject given what is happening in the Middle East.
