As part of the Reading and Early Childhood festival, organized from 1er to June 21 by the Department of Charente-Maritime and designed for bodily awakening through books, Saturday June 15, 11 “funny people” accompanied by their parents met at the Gonds media library to enjoy a moment of creative sharing around children’s books.

Invited for the occasion and coming especially from Toulouse, Sophie Vissière, author, illustrator and album creator, led this parent-child meeting workshop, in the company of Pauline Bozier, librarian at the departmental media library. The idea of the day was to make a leporello (an accordion book), using paints and stencils.

A little word about Sophie Vissière. For her, her job is not linked to a gift but to a very strong desire to get involved in children’s literature because she finds there a great freedom of expression around a great diversity of formats, papers and a beautiful place left for the image. She designs her books first with drawings before adding text when she needs it. Among his five albums already published, his first “Le potager d’Aléna” won an award in Italy, at the Bologna fair in 2017. Currently on a project of two books to follow, his 5e work “The Little Book of Great Things” was published by Éditions Hélium in 2022 and intended to be offered to all newborns in Val-de-Marne in 2023. Today, parents and little ones are impatiently awaiting “The great book of little things” to be published in spring 2025. An exhibition at the royal abbey of Saint-Jean-d’Angély is dedicated to Sophie Vissière.
