A “death notebook”. Presented as is, Elodie Fougère's book is anxiety-provoking. And yet, it is a real survival guide that she has just finished. Touched by the tragic death of her partner in June 2022, this thirty-year-old living in Saint-Barthélemy-d'Anjou (Maine-et-Loire) wrote “Up to Nowhere” in a year and a half, a hybrid book, full of of QR codes, between memories and heritage. His work is above all a universal “proof of love” to compile his memories, record his last wishes and ease the difficult decisions of his loved ones after his death (burial or cremation, organ donation, music or flowers for the ceremony …).
“Important to leave a trace”
“I realized that it was important to leave a trace other than a piece of paper at the notary, in a digital era where our cell phone is attached to our hand,” she explains. The idea is to be able to digitize our written responses inside which lead to a website to be able to store our memories for our loved ones, whether they are video, audio, or written. »
Élodie Fougère, in contact with several publishers, hopes to publish her book and her website in 2025. She is preparing to launch an online fundraiser to finance part of her project. “Thinking about our departure does not make it come faster, on the contrary. Perhaps it’s calming down,” concludes the 32-year-old young woman, who quotes the author Laurent Gounelle to conclude: “To live well is to prepare to die without regrets. »
