1,769 pages! Six works made up the 2024 selection of Au fil des pages. After 8 months, readers chose their favorite book. And recommend the novel by Pauline Hillier which was distinguished on Thursday May 23, at the Savenay library (Loire-Atlantique).

Throughout the pages, an annual event led by the 11 libraries and media libraries of the Estuaire and Sillon Community of Communes, closes its seventh edition.

This year, 146 readers, accustomed to the exercise, took part in the game of reading and voting. The ranking of the works in competition: The Contemplated, by Pauline Hillier, was popular with the public, clearly standing out. The author delivers a novel built around a personal experience. This book is the shortest in the selection. Is conciseness an asset in a competition where the reader/voter must make a marathon effort? Noëlle Caillon brushes off the insinuation with a smile: “Our readers are good readers who tend to prefer long formats. It was the crush who spoke. »

The closing ceremony was enriched by the presence of the Paroles de livres collective. The entire group came to offer a dramatized reading of extracts from the books in competition. Accompanied musically, the performance was greatly appreciated, particularly for the poetry that emerged from it and the relevance of the musical settings which prolonged the pleasure of reading.
