Rafael de Surtis editions, based in Cordes-sur-Ciel for almost thirty years, have just published a book entitled “Gaza”. The book is relevant to current events during this period of the sad anniversary of the terrorist attack perpetrated by Hamas on Saturday October 7, 2023 on Israeli soil.
It contains a dozen short texts on this tragedy, written by Gérard Mordillat, poet, novelist, essayist, born in Paris in 1949. He has published around thirty Books, is a director for television and cinema and author of comic strips. A preface by Christophe Dauphin, poet, literary critic and essayist, entitled “from the place of the United States in Gaza, with Mahmoud Darwich and Gérard Mordillat”, accompanies the texts.
Note the cover design which was created by Ernest Pignon-Ernest, visual artist, considered one of the precursors of urban art in France. Three big names have come together for this small work (43 pages) whose message is delivered in the sentence of Albert Camus quoted on the back cover: “Peace is the only battle worth fighting”.
