“Books and babies” is a cultural action plan, supported by the Department of Aveyron and implemented by its media library. It aims to promote the presence of quality albums among toddlers and the adults who accompany them, in a relationship of pleasure and through reading aloud.

Implemented since 2010, this system has been labeled Premières pages since 2015 by the Ministry of Culture.

The “Books and Babies” system is built around two main axes: – Reading and early childhood area projects

– A range of training courses, meetings, tools, bibliographic selections… for everyone!

Ouest Aveyron Community has chosen to join this system through several of its structures with training for childminders and activities in nurseries and MAMs (maternity assistant homes).

This is how a few weeks ago, the association of childminders “les Crapouilloux” welcomed Corinne Dreyfuss, children’s author and illustrator, to its premises. She was accompanied by Aude, from the departmental media library, and Justine, public reading manager at Ouest Aveyron Community.

Corinne Dreyfuss, after studying at the Beaux-Arts, without letting go of her brushes and pencils, works and exhibits. At the beginning of the 2000s, she began illustrating and then writing children’s literature albums. She also runs artistic workshops in schools. Surrounded by around ten children accompanied by their nannies, Corinne first told a story about a ladybug and played on the gestures around reading to reinforce the magic and get the little ones involved. Secondly, she offered the children a workshop to awaken to creation. Whether common or surprising, all the objects offered allowed the children to give free rein to their desire to paint to create a large fresco.
