Girondins4Ever, knock on wood, will enjoy reading this book because they will immerse themselves in the history of the club”

During an interview for Girondins4Ever, Julien Bée, journalist, author and match commentator
Girondins de Bordeaux on ForEver Radiopresented us with his fifth work entitled “33 historical anecdotes about the FCGB”. We asked him to explain to the people who read this work, the time and energy it may take.

It’s been more than ten years of work.
The time and energy are colossal because it’s time-consuming work, it’s extremely long. You have to come back to it all the time. Then I decided for some time now to take care of everything, on my own. That is to say, I manage the book from A to Z, so it’s true that it’s a lot of work. But at the same time it’s a pleasure. And when it’s a pleasure and even a passion, it passes more quickly. But it’s true that it’s colossal. I think it’s not even quantifiable, it’s not explainable because it’s so long, it takes so much time, it takes your mind. But at the same time I know that the result is that in the end, I think that the supporters – knock on wood – will enjoy reading this book because they will immerse themselves in the history of the club.

What would you say to people who are hesitant to pick up the book?

If they have experienced extraordinary moments with the club, they will rediscover them via anecdotes of course. I say it again, these are really anecdotes which make the link with the story. Then for example, if it doesn’t interest them or because they don’t like reading, it’s very easy to read. I made sure the chapters weren’t very long. There are 33 chapters so it takes a while to read obviously, but at the same time it’s very easy to read. The chapters are no more than 4.5 pages so it’s a quick read. We can say to ourselves, ‘I’ll do a chapter or two today, then I’ll come back and do another chapter.’ You don’t have to read everything at once. We are not overcome by a desire to know what will happen at the end since we know the stories. Even if you don’t like reading, it’s readable. I talk about it to those around me and I know that sometimes we don’t want to bother reading. When you don’t like it, you don’t like it. But here, the advantage is that you can quietly read a chapter. Then I’ll say it again, it’s a super quick read. In ten minutes we finished a chapter, not even that, and then we learned something, I hope so anyway.”
