A public sale of books and CDs for €1 in Bordeaux
A large come ppublic sale of books and CDs for 1€ will take place on November 6 and 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the lobby of the Gironde building located Marshal Juin’s course in Bordeaux. In total, 10 000 novels, comics, documentaries, children’s albums, CDs… are offered at a symbolic €1.
Inspired by the American “weeding”, French libraries regularly “weed” their shelves, that is to say they remove (non-heritage) documents to allow their holdings to be constantly updated and highlight their new works. The books sold at low prices find a second life with new readers based on their affinities and interests. Revenue from sales will allow each library topurchase new documents, or will be donated to an association or a project.

The meeting will take place extend from October 2 to October 2 December in 18 libraries in Gironde : Le Haillan : November 22 and 23, Martignas-sur-Jalle : October 19, Martillac : November 16, Ambès : 5 au 16 November, Carignan-de-Bordeaux : November 6, Izon : November 30, Pujols-sur-Dordogne : October 5, Podensac : November 6 and 8, Tongue : October 29 to November 9, Eynesse : September 15, Gornac : November 18 to 22, Sauveterre-de-Guyenne : November 16, Brach : October 6, Le Taillan-Médoc : December 7, Gujan-Mestras : November 29 to December 2, Saint-Ciers-sur-Gironde : October 4 and 5, Saint-Christoly-de-Blaye : November 9 and Pugnac : October 23 to 26. THE books, comics and CDs will be offered from €0.50.
