Writing just to tell stories is not the goal sought by Jean-Yves Martin-Balnois, who has lived in for 59 years. In fact, the former specialized educator “and activist” seeks to bring dialogue to this profession, through his book Resonances, wounds for others.

A journey rich in experiences

It seems to me that my childhood and adolescence led me to this passion confides the author. A concern for others and their well-being that he will cultivate, starting in high school. He discovers “the profession of specialized educator thanks to the chaplain of his establishment” and passed the competitive exams. It was a career working with adolescents in difficulty that he pursued in the 1960s. For him, the essential qualities are patience and listening ultimately, these young people are a bit like me, smiles the ex-educator. Despite the beauty of the profession, the former professional, still very committed, readily confesses that there is still too little success .

A book to free speech

The work was written in part because it was requested from Jean-Yves Martin-Balnois. My thesis director told me: you need to write a book about your experiences and your vision of things. This is also the case for his companions, as he calls them, researchers in educational science who also suggested the idea to him. Today, it’s done. After two years of work, it’s a book which makes you think, which opens the debate on a model which does not work”, he emphasizes.

Resonances, wounds for others: Editions The involved. €23.
