Tell the story of a dog by writing a book in the first person: you had to have the idea, Pierre Bonzi did it.

In My beautiful odysseyit is indeed Sushi, the dog of this resident of Tréport, in Seine-, who signed the work. Pierre Bonzi is only mentioned as co-author. A way for him to show that he has only transcribed the story of his faithful four-legged friend.

From Vietnam to Tréport

This book is a small adventure novel. Because Sushi’s life has not always been a long, quiet river, strolling along the quays of Tréport, at the end of his master’s leash.

THE French Bulldog was in fact born on another continent: “I was born 10,266 km from Le Tréport, In Vietnam, in a Chinese district of the capital Ho Chi Minh . I barely got to enjoy a little of my mother’s warmth […] that I found myself three months after my birth, locked in a small cage made of rusty iron” write Pierre and his dog at the very beginning of the book.

The stage is set and Pierre Bonzi then delivers the fictionalized account of the tough life for dogs in Southeast Asiadenouncing at the same time animal abuse.

This story, Pierre Bonzi has it first written on the Internet, day by day. And the feedback from subscribers to the Facebook page Once a French Bulldog, Always a French Bulldog, has been good.

“I realized that there was a big community around bulldogs” smiles Pierre Bonzi, encouraged by the comments to continue his story.

The first pages of this short story of 54 pages are harsh, like the beginning of Sushi’s life, which mainly consisted of being locked in a cage. “But what happens next is less dramatic” reassures Pierre Bonzi.

A glance at his feet, to see Sushi sitting quietly waiting for caresses, confirms that the dog’s life has been more joyful since his birth. settling in .

An event for the release of the book on May 5, 2024

As he has already done in the past for the release of his books, Pierre Bonzi has once again decided to create an event for the publication of the beautiful odyssey of Sushi.
Sunday May 5, 2024, visitors are expected under the beach barn, at Tréport, with various activities on the program. Several merchants from the Sister Cities sector will be present and a raffle is set up to win different prizes. Visitors will also be able to discover several exhibitions, with drawings and photos created as part of a competition.
The Baie de Sea Rescue Dog Association will offer calendars and the dogs will give a ground training demonstration from 2 p.m. in the Place de la Batterie car park.
The Boxe-Thai 15 association, chaired by Florent, the first owner of Sushi, will carry out a public training-demonstration on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.
Profits from the sale of the book will be donated to the Baie de Somme rescue dog association, the Étalondes SPA and the association of guide dogs for the blind.

Writing a book from the point of view of an animal is not new, even if the narrative process is rather rare. Animal Farmthis short story by which George Orwell denounces the excesses of the Soviet regime, is undoubtedly the most famous example. In a more modest way, Pierre Bonzi also denounces in his book, this time the violence to which animals are victims at the hands of certain men.

The process works, since by recounting her life in small cages surrounded by other lost dogs, Sushi describes the cruelty of these farms.

A book that should please animal lovers, but also travel enthusiastsPierre Bonzi taking the reader between Asia and through his dog.
