Humble American Tennis Star Jessica Pegula Laughs Off The Idea That She Has a Butler, Private Limo, And Private Plane Just Because Her Family Owns The Buffalo Bills

I’m sure a bunch of people are going to watch that video and hate on Jessica Pegula. They’ll question why they should pity someone who is the daughter of a billionaire family who is also near the top of the women’s tennis world. I’m sure the replies are all saying, “Oh boo hoo, people think you live a lavish life but you want them to think you’re one of the people. You poor thing.”

Well she was asked the question, what do you want her to do? It’s not like she’s bringing up her trust fund out of the blue to the media and bragging about her privilege. Pegula was simply doing a press conference and answering questions. She’s very good at tennis and also disgustingly rich. She shouldn’t apologize for that, instead she should be commended for having a good head on her shoulders and being humble.

In reality, Pegula is probably up there when it comes to people who are the worst at being very rich. Instead of vacationing every week at a different exotic island, she’s grinding on the tennis tour all year long. You can’t even appreciate a nice home when you’re going from tournament to tournament non-stop. Even taking in a Bills game in the family suite probably doesn’t happen ever because she’s never there. There’s basically zero offseason for these players. They get part of November and December, then it’s off to Australia to start the season. Again, we don’t need to feel bad for a top 5 tennis player enduring life, but she easily could hold some fake position with the Bills, call it a career, and cruise in life. I respect that.

A few days ago she found herself riding the subway to Flushing because she gets car sick. She was just walking on the public bridge to the US Open with all the other fans like she was some nobody.

I don’t know, seems like a pretty likable person to me. She takes on the world no. 1 Iga Swiatek tomorrow night in the US Open quarterfinals. She’s never advanced to a slam semifinal in her career and I can’t think of a better time to break that streak than right now. It’s still a long shot, but the all-billionaire daughter final is still in play if USA’s Emma Navarro can meet her there.

P.S. Jessica wrote an awesome piece in The Players’ Tribune about how she dealt with her mom’s cardiac arrest a few years ago. If you’re not a fan of Jessica Pegula you’re doing it wrong.
