Georges-Louis Bouchez revealed on Tuesday the names of all the candidates on the “Mons en Mieux” list for the municipal elections and confirmed the candidacy of Julie Taton in 2nd position, despite the controversy linked to her residence in the Cité du Doudou.
Speaking for the first time since the start of the controversy, Julie Taton confirms her real and not fictitious intention to live in Mons.I am in the process of settling in Mons in the sense that my family will come, because for me it is global, but I am already settled in Mons in an apartment which is indeed temporary. And there you go, I am in the process of visiting schools, I have one which is already a little favorite for my son” she answers us.
“We will obtain the domiciliation, but the challenge is that it is recognized on July 14“, explained Georges-Louis Bouchez. The law requires that all candidates be domiciled in the municipality for which they are running before July 31. However, Julie Taton was notified by email on August 1 that she had not been registered by the municipality. She was even advised to request re-registration, the MR president said, seeing this as a “maneuver to prevent her from being a candidate“since Julie Taton had submitted her request on July 14.
“There is no reason to change the list, because we are within our rights.“, Georges-Louis Bouchez then insisted.
The former Miss Belgium explains that she is collecting supporting documents showing that she lives in the capital, which the police were unable to verify during several visits.Now school has started again and so my children are in Lasne since we haven’t disrupted them either. There was a registration that was done when they returned to their school. The federal MP for Hainaut and her party president say they have been victims of excessive checks since last June. Both have filed an appeal against this refusal of domiciliation with the Ministry of the Interior.
