“There are too many family members”: Alain Duhamel returns to the reason behind his departure

Alain Duhamel announced live last night that he was finally retiring after a 60-year career. The 84-year-old political journalist has delivered numerous political analyses. He will therefore host his last season on BFTMV.

When asked why the journalist finally decided to leave the profession, he replied: ” I had to divorce either BFM or my wife. ” This Tuesday morning, the columnist returned to his departure in front of Apolline de Malherbe.

He explains: “ Well, first of all because my wife asks me, she’s been asking me for ten years, every year, louder and louder. Then because I find that there comes a time… And then there are too many people in the family too ».

The Duhamel family is indeed very present on television. Alain Duhamel’s brother, Patrice Duhamel, is also a journalist and was the general director of France Télévision. He is also married to journalist Nathalie Saint-Cricq and together they had Benjamin Duhamel, who is also on BFMTV.

Alain Duhamel comments: “ The dynasty is completely stupid because they are different branches. I am not a dynasty, my father was not a journalist and my son is not a journalist. ” He remembers: ” Even under Giscard, it doesn’t make us any younger, I was on Channel Two, my brother was on Channel One and it was a problem, it was a political problem at the time, which was also public. And now, my brother is on another channel, very respectable, but I don’t like it when we’re at the same time, on the same subject and on two competing channels so that played a role, yes ».
