Tracking new disturbance off the coast of Africa

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – A new disturbance off the coast of Africa is trying to organize. It currently has a 10% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone over two days and a 40% chance over the next seven days. Disturbance #1 off the coast of northeast Texas has become weaker and more disorganized. It has no chance of development within two or seven days. Disturbance #2 east of the Lesser Antilles has weakened slightly. The latest update from the National Hurricane center reports it has no chance of development in two days and remains at 40% for seven days.

Labor Day conditions gave some areas brief thunderstorms in an effort to cool down air temperatures. For those heading back to work after the holiday, afternoon showers will once again grace areas in a scattered fashion. The thunderstorms will primarily develop in the afternoon and early evening. We will continue to experience a general easterly wind through mid week.

High temperatures will teeter in the upper 80s. It will feel warm and humid with feels-like temperatures around 103 near the coast, and a few degrees higher for inland areas. Low temperatures will dip to the mid to upper 70s.

Boaters should have favorable conditions for the morning and possibly early afternoon. Seas will run about one to two feet with a light chop when storms are not present. Winds will come from the east between five and ten knots. Boaters and beachgoers should keep an eye out for afternoon and early evening storm development.
