BSW Party: “Annoying hype” – Kurt Beck criticizes reporting on Sahra Wagenknecht

Shortly before the state elections in Saxony and Thuringia, former SPD chairman Kurt Beck accused the media of uncritical reporting on BSW boss Sahra Wagenknecht.

“The hype that many media outlets are making about Ms Wagenknecht is annoying,” he told the “Tagesspiegel” newspaper on Saturday. “Sometimes there is hardly a TV talk show that she is not on. It borders on advertising.” He would like to see “more critical questions” asked of Wagenknecht.

Beck accused the BSW chairwoman of egocentrism, destruction and a partly left-wing radical, partly right-wing radical attitude. “I don’t know anyone who is as self-centered as Ms Wagenknecht,” the former Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate told the newspaper. “So much egoism and egocentrism is extreme.”

The former SPD leader stressed: “All organizations in which Ms. Wagenknecht was involved were ultimately damaged by her. Wagenknecht has an enormously destructive power.”

“Sometimes she is left-wing radical, sometimes she is right-wing radical,” claims Beck

Beck accused the BSW politician of portraying herself as “a messiah with a party named after herself.” It is not clear what she actually stands for: “Sometimes she is left-wing radical, sometimes she is right-wing radical.” The SPD politician continued: “She puts a positive spin on Putin, a man who attacks a neighboring nation out of lust for power. That connects Wagenknecht with the AfD, it is a pathetic spectacle.”

On Sunday, new state parliaments will be elected in Saxony and Thuringia. The Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) coalition is predicted to achieve double-digit results in both states.

Beck was Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate from 1994 to 2013, and from 2006 to 2008 he also led the SPD.
