He just ran 1,046 km… in 6 days: Belgian Matthieu Bonne smashed an incredible world record

Matthieu Bonne likes to take on extreme challenges. The Belgian athlete has just completed a 6-day race, during which he covered 1,046 kilometers. This is his third world record, and he has already broken other incredible records in cycling and swimming.

There are athletes who like to suffer and surpass themselves. This is clearly the case for Matthieu Bonne. The latter is an expert in extreme disciplines. Before today, he held two world records for distance in swimming and cycling. His distance record by pedaling? 3,619 kilometers in 7 days. At sea, he also covered 131 kilometers. Enough to fall asleep easily upon arrival.

But this Wednesday, Matthieu Bonne went for a third world record. He, in fact, reached the end of the 6 Days Race, organized in Hungary. The goal? To run the most kilometers in 6 days. Our compatriot gave himself the means to beat the reference marks, by running each time 3 hours. Between these moments of racing, he rested for about fifteen minutes, before resting 3 hours every 24 hours. Are you still following?

Well, imagine that when he saw that he was getting closer to the record, our dear Matthieu Bonne simply skipped his rest period to continue running the kilometers. Result: he reached the 1,046 kilometer mark, beating the previous record, held by Yannis Kouros, by almost ten kilometers. A record that had stood for 20 years.

A masterful performance.
