“I travelled 5,000 miles to see Hamilton”, the signs and messages from fans in Monza for the drivers

Banners, flags and signs. So much passion and so much anticipation for the race and for the party. Some came from Brazil, from the Dominican Republic, to see the race in Monza and listen to the drivers up close. And then so many families, young and very young. The Formula 1 people in Monza gathered in the Fanzone on Saturday morning where the drivers of different teams took to the stage in an appointment with the fans. Max Verstappen, Esteban Ocon, Lewis Hamilton, George Russel and then Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc. A crowd bath on the Roccolo lawn and so much anticipation for the race.

Among the audience were Alberto and his dad Marco: he is seven years old and came from Verona to Monza to see the Formula 1 cars up close. “We are Ferrari fans but Alberto also has a passion for Albon”. He waits for the show and the drivers on his dad’s shoulders, among the many red flags – and not only – that are waving.

The Monza residents are also waiting in the Fanzone to listen to the drivers’ impressions of Monza and their expectations. Five friends have met at the racetrack for a day of celebration and sport. Fans and Ferrari drivers, they hope for a result. “It’s difficult to make predictions, it will certainly be a fun show. I avoid predictions, you never know” said Benedetta. “In the meantime, we’ll wait for them here”.

And then there are those who come from much further away. From the Dominican Republic. And they crossed the ocean to be in Monza to see the race. And to support Ferrari and Charles Leclerc on a special day. “Tomorrow is his birthday” they explain to us and show us the signs they have prepared to wish the Spanish driver, born in 1994, who will turn 30 tomorrow. “We are staying in Monza, we are in Italy for the Grand Prix” and they are impatient to see the race.

From far away, from Sweden, three girls also arrive: “Hot girl watch Formula1” reads the writing on the T-shirts they are wearing.
