VRT journalist Fatma Taspinar (41) and intensivist Geert Meyfroidt (52) are expecting their first child together. Taspinar will still be seen on screen during her pregnancy.
VRT itself comes with the happy news. “Fatma Taspinar and her partner Geert welcome their baby in the early spring of 2025”, it sounds. It is the first child for the news anchor, Meyfroidt already has three adult children from a previous marriage.
Taspinar will still be seen on screen during her pregnancy. She will continue to work for the news service in the coming months. “She will continue to present the news and also continue to report as a justice expert.”
“Fuck, my engagement ring”
Taspinar and Meyfroidt first met in the VRT news studio. The intensivist and professor at KU Leuven came to explain the corona crisis. Not there and then, but a little later, the spark ignited. They kept their relationship out of the spotlight because “it’s not that interesting”. Last March, Taspinar accidentally revealed that they were engaged.
In Celebrity MasterChef Flanders on Play4 she misspoke, she repeatedly talked about “my husband, Geert”. While cooking, Taspinar dropped her three rings. “Oh, those are my rings, fuck! My engagement ring was on the floor.”
