Meet the Mets
Jesse Winker blasted a grand slam in the first inning and the Mets didn’t look back in their 8-3 win over the Red Sox to finish off the sweep. Tylor Megill got the start and let Boston get back in it when he gave up three runs in four innings. The bullpen in relief of Megill locked it down and held the slim lead until the Mets broke it open the eighth. They scored four runs in the inning, three of which came on bases loaded walks. Even with the big lead, Edwin Díaz entered in the ninth and easily shut the door to give the Mets their seventh consecutive win.
