The Red Devils landed in Debrecen (Hungary) today for their international match against Israel tomorrow. The confrontation in and against France is scheduled for Monday.
Today, captain Kevin De Bruyne spoke to the press. In an interview with Het Nieuwsblad, KDB expressed his ambitions for the diptych in the Nations League.
According to De Bruyne, there is no need to make a statement after the European Championship. “I don’t think we need to make a statement after the European Championship. We want to play the best football possible, as always. There are some new guys and the coach wants to give them the chance to grow. We are not the favorites for the Nations League in this group with France,” said De Bruyne.
France knocked out the Red Devils this summer in the round of 16 of the European Championship in Germany. A tournament that many Belgians would rather not be reminded of.
The midfielder acknowledges that Romelu Lukaku’s absence will require an adjustment, but he fully understands the situation. “I understand Romelu after his transfer. It may be better for him to take it easy, but he will definitely come back.”
The Red Devils will play Israel tomorrow at 20:45. The match against France will be on Monday at 20:45.
