September has started very warm: Sunday afternoon it is 31 degrees locally. The evening will also continue to be quite sunny and pleasantly warm for a long time, followed by a sultry night. You can read all the details about this in our extensive weather report!

Chance of thunderstorms on Monday afternoon

Where the wind came from an easterly direction on Sunday, it will turn to the south and southwest during the day on Monday. This will make the air a little less warm, but above all a lot more humid. And we will notice that. With an afternoon temperature of 24 degrees at the coast to a maximum of 29 degrees along the eastern border, it will be a little less warm than on Sunday, but it will feel a lot more unpleasant. It will be very sultry.

There will be sunny spells at first. From noon, more and more cumulus clouds will develop, especially inland. These clouds will grow into a few heavy showers later in the afternoon with a chance of thunderstorms and locally heavy precipitation. Very locally, more than 20 millimeters of precipitation will fall and if that amount falls within a short time, this may cause flooding for a while.

On Monday evening, most and the heaviest showers will gradually move to the north of our country. Where the heaviest showers will end up exactly will remain unclear until the last moment, as is usually the case in these types of situations. However, take into account locally heavy thunderstorms if you undertake outdoor activities.

Tuesday and Wednesday cooler

Tuesday and Wednesday we will find ourselves in a much cooler air type with temperatures between 19 and 22 degrees. However, the heat will remain very close to us and perhaps the northeast or east will just end up in this air type. In that case, the maxima there will rise to around 25 degrees.

In terms of weather, we see quite a lot of cloud on both days and there will be a few scattered showers or some rain, possibly with thunderstorms inland. The large amounts of precipitation will most likely fall outside our national borders. On Wednesday during the day, the sun will shine more often, especially in the southwest. Furthermore, there will be a strong wind on Wednesday night and morning, with a (fairly) strong southwesterly wind along the southwest coast.

Temperature rising again later?

From Thursday until the coming weekend we will see slightly changeable summer weather. Especially over the southern half there will be occasional rain or thunderstorms, otherwise the sun will get a lot of space and it will remain mostly dry. With a wind turning to the southeast to the east, the supply of warm air will start again.

This coming weekend, inland highs of up to 25 degrees are possible, but that does depend on a few areas of showers that are ‘spinning’ above France and England. Of course, we do not yet know exactly where the showers will end up at this time. When clouds and showers end up closer to our country, the temperature will of course remain a few degrees lower.
