The world of justice salutes “an ardent defender of freedoms”

After seventy years at the bar and as many years of stubbornly defending freedoms, Henri Leclerc, lawyer and tireless defender of human rights, died on Saturday in Villejuif, in Val-de-Marne, at the age of 90.

Like many other lawyers on Saturday evening on X, the former figure of the bar and resigning Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti, paid tribute to his memory: “Dear Henri, you often said, ‘if there was only one left, I would be that one.’ With your passing, we have lost a tireless defender of freedoms whose commitment and talent left their mark on the bar and our entire justice system. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his loved ones.”

“Henri Leclerc was a very great man. Always at our side to defend the CFDT, its leaders and our fight against the extreme right. Proud that he is our lawyer, he inspired us so much”for his part wrote about X Marylise Léon, general secretary of the CFDT. The railway worker and LFI deputy of the 3e constituency of Seine-Saint-Denis, Thomas Portès greeted on X “a giant”.
