According to coach Sebastian Hoeneß, offensive player Silas will not leave VfB Stuttgart this summer. He currently “does not believe that Silas will continue to wear the jersey for us,” said the coach after the 3:3 (2:1) draw against 1. FSV Mainz 05 on the second matchday of the Bundesliga. The Congolese was not in the Swabian squad. The winger had not been used in VfB’s two previous competitive matches.

On Friday, a possible transfer for the 25-year-old was discussed, reported VfB sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth. Ultimately, however, nothing came of it. In some countries – Austria, Portugal and Turkey, for example – the transfer window is still open for a few days. Wohlgemuth described the national player’s future as “open”.

If Silas stays, he has “every opportunity to play a good role for us again,” said coach Hoeneß. The attacker moved from Paris FC to VfB in the summer of 2019. There he quickly developed into a crowd favorite, but recently Silas has increasingly fallen behind at the runner-up.
