Johnny Cardoso isn’t too deep into his Real Betis career but could reportedly be on his way to the English Premier League in the near future.

Tottenham secured a first priority option on acquiring Cardoso, should the London club decide to trigger it, The Evening Standard reported Friday. The move was part of the deal that sent Giovani Lo Celso to Real Betis in a permanent transfer.

Spurs would have to reportedly pay Betis more than €30 million for Cardoso’s services, according to the report. If Tottenham opts against a future deal for Cardoso, they would receive a sell-on fee should he join another club.

The 22-year-old Cardoso joined Real Betis from Brazilian side Internacional last January. He’s made 22 appearances for the La Liga side across all competitions, scoring one goal and adding two assists.

Cardoso made over 140 appearances for Internacional during his time in Brazil, growing into a key member of the squad before his transfer to Spain.

He’s earned 15 caps with the U.S. men’s national team, being part of one CONCACAF Nations League-winning side.

Friday’s closure of the summer transfer window means Tottenham could revisit acquiring Cardoso in January.
