Another Olympic star tipped to shine in Zurich is Duplantis, who broke his own pole vault world record on 24 August, barely a month after improving it in Paris.

He will warm up for his pet event with an exhibition head-to-head 100m sprint against Warholm at Letzigrund Stadium on Wednesday 4 September – a day before the Diamond League meeting in Zurich.

They will return to the stadium for their usual events on Thursday, with Duplantis leading a loaded field comprising Paris 2024 silver medallist Sam Kendricks. Filipino star EJ Obiena will not compete after ending his season early with a back injury.

Warholm, on the other hand, will be seeking his second men’s 400m hurdles win in the Diamond League after returning to winning ways in Silesia. The Norwegian Olympic silver medallist trails Brazilian Alison Dos Santos, the bronze holder from Paris, who leads the event’s Diamond League Qualifying standings.

At Zurich Main Station, a trio of Olympic champions and Paris 2024 podium finishers will reunite a top-class women’s pole vault.

Greece’s Aikaterini Stefanidi (Rio 2016), USA’s Katie Moon (Tokyo 2021), and Nina Kennedy of Australia (Paris 2024) should draw some loud cheers from the Zurich crowd on Wednesday. Kennedy has won in Zurich before and will look to continue the momentum of her brilliant Olympic form.

All three 1500m men’s Olympic medallists led by American Cole Hocker, will be in action while the fourth-place finisher in Jakob Ingebrigsten will look to put that disappointment behind him with a good performance.
