More than six thousand people were present at Tondreau to watch this Walloon clash for the sixth round of the Belgian Cup. The last time the two clubs met was on November 12, 2005, it was also a cup match (round of 16) with a victory for Montois (1-0) who also played at a lower level (D2 old version) than their opponents.

From the start of hostilities, the two teams feared and respected each other, a little too much even, so much so that there was nothing to get your teeth into in the first half, especially marked by the exclusion of Ito for a dangerous foul eighty meters from his goal on Penin. The first shot of the game came in the 10th minute on the Louviers side (Bongiovanni), in the other direction it was necessary to wait until the 40th minute and a sending from Houdret deflected for a corner.

Frédéric Taquin is looking forward to playing the cup match between Mons and RAAL: “At Tondreau, it will be a magical match”

Right after the restart, the Wolves benefited from a free kick that Bongiovanni masterfully kicked into the top corner (0-1). The match was launched with an immediate response from the Dragons who had two great chances through Kumbi, in vain. The third was the right one, De Belder opened the ball perfectly for Kumbi who crucified Peano and set the record straight. L’Albert finished the game better, and had two great chances. First on a Bamona cross where Faye slipped, which Chevalier took advantage of and took it back strongly, but Peano pushed it back while Kumbi missed his header. Then, a Chevalier cross to the far post from which Bamona’s volley was deflected for a corner. Facing a RAAL reduced to ten for a long time, Dante Brogno’s men seemed fresher to tackle extra time. During these, nothing transcendent on either side before the 108th minute, where the locals failed to punish Peano guilty of a missed exit, and Chevalier, taking too weakly a cross from Bamona. In the final minute, following a one-two between Chevalier and Sula, the latter saw his attempt fail on the top of the crossbar. It was the Louvièrois who proved the most skillful during the penalty shootout, Maës scoring the penalty that propelled them to the round of 16.
