This is the latest grain of sand in a long series of conflicts between OM and Chancel Mbemba. The Congolese defender did not show up for two medical appointments, including an MRI of the knee that OM had scheduled for him, as explained by L’Equipe. The club therefore summoned him to an interview prior to a sanction and possibly a dismissal.
The Mbemba clan also suspects OM of deliberately creating this situation by asking the player to avoid medical examinations when he says he feels fine. The defender did indeed take part in two matches with the Democratic Republic of Congo during the break and then, upon his return, showed up for a session with the Pro 2 team, a mix of young players and professionals, where he was supposed to train since Roberto De Zerbi does not want him. Since his refusal to leave this summer, OM had told him that he would never wear the OM jersey again.
