In 2023, a new chapter in this work opened with the conclusion of a new 3-year partnership with the City of Pointe-à-Pitre.
This port city, which nevertheless enjoys a central position, faces numerous difficulties: economic isolation, urban abandonment, increased natural risks and protection of its natural site.
In 2024, a second class of students went to Guadeloupe and thus had the opportunity to
discover Pointe-à-Pitre.
The teaching team of the workshop wanted this new work to be a continuation of the
previous explorations. Thus, the intuitions of a group of students, who had focused in 2023 on the south-eastern entrance to the city, were continued in 2024. This time it was all the students in the workshop who concentrated in the same territory.
ENSA Normandie's approach to these workshops is both global and contextual. It takes into account all the issues of the Pointe-à-Pitre agglomeration while generating proposals on the scale of urban or architectural projects. It is also about working with stakeholders in the urban area by mobilizing local resources. The question of city floors, the making of the city from below and the consideration of risks were the subject of particular attention.
