Drivers of the day for the 2024 F1 season

Established in 2016, the Driver of the Day trophy is awarded to the driver designated as having completed the best race by Internet users invited to vote on the official Formula 1 website.

Main rival of Max Verstappen after two seasons of domination, Lando Norris was the driver most rewarded by the voters in 2024. The Briton has pocketed the reward seven times (including two for victories). Last year, he already finished with the most trophies among drivers (five).

Logically, Verstappen suffered what Lewis Hamilton experienced during or just after his seasons of domination: a scarcity of these rewards, despite numerous victories. Despite everything, he was named “Driver of the Day” at the São Paulo Grand Prix.

Apart from Norris, four drivers have received this trophy several times: Charles Leclerc (notably for his three victories), Carlos Sainz (notably for his two victories), Lewis Hamilton (notably for his two victories) and Oscar Piastri (for his two victories).

In the rest of the rankings, the replacement at short notice of Sainz by Oliver Bearman at Ferrari at the Saudi Arabian GP was welcomed by the voters, who also marked the occasion for what was strongly anticipated to be the ultimate GP of the career of Daniel Ricciardo in Singapore. Finally, Zhou Guanyu, who allowed Stake to score its only points of the season, was rewarded in Qatar.

Note that of the seven winning drivers in 2024, only George Russell (who won in Austria and Las Vegas) was not “Driver of the Day”.
