The Houthi rebels of Yemen announced on Monday “American-Israeli air raids” in the Al-Hodeida governorate, in the Red Sea, the day after a missile shot on the main airport of Israel which they had claimed.
On their Al-Masirah channel, the Houthis denounced “an American-Israeli assault”, reporting “six strikes against the port of al-Hodeida” as well as other attacks on the Bajil district, in the same governorate controlled by the rebels.
An Israeli official has confirmed air strikes in Yemen at AFP. “Yes,” said this official at first under the guise of anonymity in response to a question from AFP requesting confirmation of the Israeli army participation in these strikes, which occurred in the aftermath of a missile shot on Tel Aviv International Airport claimed by these allied rebels of Iran.
The strikes were carried out “in response to the repeated attacks of the Houthi terrorist regime against the State of Israel” using missiles and drones, a military statement said later. According to the army, “the terrorist infrastructures struck in the port of al-Hodeida” are used for the “transfer of Iranian weapons and military equipment”. The army adds having struck a cement plant in the east of the city which it calls “important economic resource for the Houthis”.
