Charlotte Belaïch and I have been following the leftist parties for several years. The idea of doing this investigation was born at the time of the Adrien Quatennens case, a former Northern deputy accused, in 2022, of having slapped his wife and sentenced for domestic violence a few months later. This event was an earthquake within rebellious France (LFI). He highlighted a gap between the feminist vision of the party’s program and the chief’s words to defend Mr. Quatennens. Many “rebellious”, activists, executives and elected officials, including close to Jean-Luc Mélenchon, do not understand why the latter provides unfailing support to Mr. Quatennens.
We relate in the book a meeting which is then held in one of the rooms of the National Assembly, and which the leader “rebellious” presides. A meeting where he sermates the deputies present, asking them to “Stay united” and swearing that“Adrien Quatennens is not a violent man ». However, at that time, Jean-Luc Mélenchon was no longer a deputy; He put himself, in his words, “Return” of LFI. We then realize that he did not really drop the direction of the movement. So we wanted to know how I really worked rebellious. What was everyone’s role? How are decisions made? How are crises treated, and in particular the affairs of sexist and sexual violence? In addition to the mass of documents (conversations, judicial file, internal emails) that we have obtained, we interviewed hundreds of witnesses, including elected officials and employees of the movement who are still there, to tell the interior of LFI.
