The European Union will present a plan on Tuesday to put an end to imports of Russian energy

The European Commission has committed to the European to abandon the Russian fossil fuels by 2027, in response to the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

The European Union (EU) is due to present a roadmap on Tuesday on the way it plans to reduce its energy dependence on , said Monday the spokesman for the European Commission, Stefan de Keersmaecker.

“Tomorrow, the college will discuss a roadmap to end imports of Russian energy,” he said, referring to the college of commissioners of the 27 member countries of the European Union who will meet Tuesday in Strasbourg.

The details of the plan will be presented by Dan Jorgensen, European Energy and Housing Commissioner.

Towards more American gas imports?

The European Commission has committed to the European Union to abandon the Russian fossil fuels by 2027, in response to the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Across the Atlantic, US President Donald Trump expressed his wish to see the European Union buy more American gas, which the officials of twenty-seven consider a possible currency in negotiations relating to customs duties.
