The hearing on tear gas, where four former deputies are accused of possession, possession and control unauthorized in arms, was postponed in the absence of the accused Albulena Haxhiu, Minister of Acting Justice.
Judge Bujar Ahmeti said Haxhiu had informed the court on May 5 that he could not come because of the constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly.
The court postponed the hearing on June 20.
During the previous session, Haxhiu was present, while the other accused were absent.
In this case, the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, the deputy Pal Lekaj and the former deputies Donika Kadaj-Bujupi and Besa Baftiu, are accused of having possessed tear gas at the Kosovo Assembly in 2016. The Pristina Court of first Instance had acquitted on May 18, 2021, due to the Minister of Justice, Former deputy Pal Lekaj and the former deputies Donika Kadaj-Bujupi and Besa Baftiu, accusations of possession of tear gas at the assembly of Kosovo. However, the prosecutor’s office of Pristina appealed to this decision and, during the session held on October 6, 2022, this prosecution asked that the case be rejuvenated. Subsequently, the Court of Appeal rendered on October 14, 2022 a decision approving the appeal of the Partina base prosecution and canceling the judgment of the Pristina court of first instance, referring the case for a new trial.
