The firefighters were alerted shortly after 0:30 a.m., on the night of Thursday, 17 to Friday, April 18. A fire had just declared itself in a residential dependence located in the commune of Benet, in Vendée, at the limit of Deux-Sèvres. The building, with an area of 100 m2on one level with stone frame, was completely ravaged by fire.
The firefighters had to act with the presence of two bottles of gas in dependence, one of which ended up exploding, with a high risk of spreading fire to the house but also to a adjoining trade. By means of spears, the firefighters extinguished the fire and protected the threatened buildings.
No one has been injured, the origin of the disaster remains indefinitely. According to our colleagues from Ouest-Francethe owner of the accommodation indicated that an electric bike and an electric brushcutter were in dependence.
The owner of the trade was warned by the municipality of Benet and the gendarmes, he went to the scene. A team from Enedis was responsible for cutting the electricity. Once the intervention is completed, around 3:30 a.m., and after recognition by the firefighters, the owners of the house were able to return to their accommodation.
