Text: Marco Polisson – Strong rains combined with a lack of maintenance of the roads caused the closure of this vital axis between Lyon, Caluire and La Croix-Rousse.

Unusual calm this morning for Bissardon residents and patients at the Croix-Rousse hospital. No more vehicles are authorized to circulate since Sunday at the end of the afternoon on this major automobile axis which links the Rhône quays to the Croix-Rousse and Caluire.

Earth flows have come to hinder traffic, but not only. Large holes formed on the roadway at the level of the bridge overlooking this axis. This is not the first time that this phenomenon has occurred. Motorists who take this path have learned for 5 years to juggle with environmental vagaries.

Because the mud could have been evacuated in two hours, but the concern is elsewhere: the lack of maintenance has weakened the road reserved for automotive traffic.

Not only, the reconfiguration of the rise on a single path in the Lyon Caluire sense Pose again and again a big security problem when the traffic is dense, but the postponement of all cars on a single track has logically damaged the only remaining road.
