The Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal released this Monday, May 5, Lucas Tocheport for the attempt to fire a restaurant in Centuri, Cape Town.
Last December, this 24 -year -old man was sentenced to first instance to five years in prison by the Marseille Criminal Court.
Pursued for “attempted destruction by fire” and “association of criminals”, he had also been inflicted 10,000 euros fine, as well as five years of prohibition to carry a weapon and go to Corsica.
At the end of the call hearing which took place on March 24, Lucas Tocheport obtained a total relaxation.
-“This decision, which we can only rejoice, suggests that the main principles of criminal justice are not a dead letter”, reacted his lawyer, Me Matthieu Davy, who defended the accused with Me Christophe Bass.

Shortly after two in the morning, an attempted fire had been noted by one of the girls’ daughters of the establishment. The latter had been awakened by a strong smell of essence and had surprised, from his window, a man spraying the terrace. The latter then fled. A few minutes later, a car was found charred in the vicinity of the village.
On the spot, the investigators had taken DNA fingerprints, including those of the defendant (condemned in 2022 for jets of Molotov cocktail during a high school demonstration in Corte). At the helm of the Marseille Criminal Court, Lucas Tocheport had challenged the facts of him concerning this fire attempt.
