Morocco pleads for African digital sovereignty

During the opening ceremony of the Gitex Africa Morocco 2025 fair, organized under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the head of government delivered an ambitious discourse, highlighting the vision of Morocco and Africa in terms of digital transformation and artificial intelligence (IA).

The Head of Government stressed that this edition is held at a pivotal moment, where AI interferes in all aspects of our daily life, upsetting economies, institutions and social dynamics.

In this context, Morocco, with its commitment to the international scene, defends a resolutely ethical and inclusive AI approach. An artificial intelligence that places humans at the heart of their concerns, guarantees the protection of personal data and works for the general interest. Faced with cybermenaces and potential drifts, the kingdom calls for collective mobilization to strengthen digital security and prevent Africa from being reduced to a simple field of experimentation.

Under the impetus of royal orientations, Morocco has made digitalization a national priority through its strategy “Morocco Digital 2030”. This vision revolves around two major axes: the modernization of public administration to better serve citizens and businesses, and the creation of a dynamic economic ecosystem, conducive to innovation and the creation of jobs. To materialize this ambition, the country has initiated several structuring reforms, including strategic partnerships with global technological leaders, the implementation of financing systems adapted to start-ups, and the adoption of a regulatory framework encouraging innovation.

Speech has also emphasized the central role that Africa must play in this digital revolution. The continent cannot be content to be a follower; He must become a full -fledged actor, capable of influencing and modeling his technological future. The Head of Government has launched a vibrant appeal for Pan -African cooperation, saying that digital technologies must be a lever of sovereignty and social progress. GITEX Africa embodies this vision, offering a space where ideas are transformed into actions and where Africa itself writes its digital destiny.
