The outgoing deputy Alexis Brunelle-Duceppe will again have the opportunity to represent the voters of Lac-Saint-Jean in the House of Commons.
The candidate of the Quebec Bloc was elected on Monday evening. After 204 wounded polling stations, he had obtained 45.9 % of the votes and held an advance of 6,700 votes.
We were confident, but it’s always a box with surprises, an election, you never know what will happen. We are very proud and it is a huge dose of love that I receive tonight [lundi]
launched Mr. Brunelle-Ducept, to the applause of his supporters gathered in a microbrewery in Alma.

In 2021, he had won with more than 50 % of the votes as well as a overwhelming majority of more than 12,000 votes against Serge Bergeron, of the Canada Conservative Party (PCC). He also won in 2019.
Brunelle-Ducept, who wanted to thank his team and the voters of Lac-Saint-Jean for his victory, says he is ready to work with the liberal government whose election was announced by Radio-Canada.
We are going to work with anyone who will be in government. This is the advantage of an opposition deputy, we collaborate with the government when it is good for us, for Quebec and for the region, but when it is not good, we have frank cubits to fight
said the son of former chef Gilles Duceppe.
The disappointed conservative candidate
At 11:30 p.m., a fight was still emerging for second place. The conservative candidate Dave Blackburn had won 26.2 % of the votes while the Liberal Denis Lemieux had raised 24.8 % of the votes.
Joined following the unveiling of the results, Dave Blackburn, whose candidacy was announced about ten days after the campaign triggered, did not hide its bitterness.
I am disappointed with the results. We expected it to be really stronger on our side so much in Lac-Saint-Jean and Jonquière […] We expected to be able to break into the three counties. Citizens have taken a tendency to maintain the block even if this party is complete uselessness in the House of Commons in Ottawa. It is a provincial party which should be in the National Assembly of Quebec and not in Ottawa
he reacted.

As for Denis Lemieux, he quickly felt that the outgoing deputy was appreciated by the voters.
I want to congratulate Mr. Duceppe for his electoral result, he made a beautiful campaign and I noticed on the ground that he was very appreciated by the voters. I think he deserves his victory
said the one who was trying to return to politics after being a deputy for Chicoutimi-Le Fjord from 2015 to 2017.
You could see me again, I always like it to offer my services to the population.
Visit an opponent
The evening was the scene of a funny moment when the candidate of the new democratic party, Hugues Boily-Maltais, visited the rally of Alexis Brunelle-Ducept, who warmly welcomed him in the company of his supporters. The two candidates even took a beer together before closing the polling stations in Quebec.

I wanted to take a bridge of the electoral evenings […] There was a great campaign with all the candidates, it was sympathetic and the collaboration of defending the interests of the population, we are able to agree on this […] There was the seems to have fun here tonight and it is more Alexis than the conservatives or the liberals I wish who takes the county
underlined the neo-democratic candidate encountered in a microbrewery in Alma.
The latter had also indicated in the last days that he would walk in the various rallies of his opponents.
