(Keystone-ATS) A referendum committee was formed last March with the aim of requesting a popular vote on this project, the municipality reminded the municipality on Tuesday in a press release. To achieve his request for a popular referendum, 1722 valid signatures were necessary.
At the end of the deadline Tuesday, 647 unaccompanied signatures were filed with the municipal registry, according to a count. The request for referendum therefore did not succeed.
Public-private partnership
As a reminder, the renovation-transformation project of the Eaux-Mineral skating rink was accepted by the municipal council on March 5, 2025. This public-private partnership, signed with a consortium of companies in the region, aims to transform an aging infrastructure into a four-season sports complex.
The contract provides for the payment of annuities by the city in the amount of 810,000 francs over 30 years. The amount amounts to a total of 24.3 million francs, including all the costs linked to work (15.8 million) and technical maintenance, the total guarantee on technical facilities and financial charges during the next three decades. The municipality hopes to inaugurate this new complex in early 2029.
