The canton of Neuchâtel is launching a campaign to increase the number of first Breathtacks throughout its territory. Currently, more than 1000 volunteers who are trained in first aid gestures are ready to intervene in the event of cardiac arrest before the arrival of professional aid.
The objective is to double this number by the end of 2026 in order to maximize the chances of survival of the victims of a cardiac arrest, the state of Neuchâtel announced on Monday. This awareness -raising initiative was launched on the occasion of the day of action of 144.
The campaign, which will take place over a month, will highlight an educational film explaining the course of an intervention and the testimonies of four First Neuchâtel First. They will share their experience and motivations to encourage other people to join the network.
The Cantonal Public Health Service will also focus on the loyalty of the FIRS Responders already engaged within the Neuchâtel network. A kit of equipment will be made available to them to allow them to intervene in the best conditions.
