In French-speaking Switzerland, “conversion therapies” do not take the form of structured internships, such as those documented in the United States, but practices aimed at modifying sexual orientation or gender identity exist. This is what a current survey carried out by the Intercantonal Center for Information on Creation (CIC) in the cantons of Vaud and Geneva highlights. This Wednesday, May 7, a conference organized at the University of Lausanne will wonder about what these so-called “psycho-space” accompaniments are. The title chosen for this study day, “conversion therapies”, thus takes up a largely publicized term but deemed imprecise by researchers with regard to practices in French -speaking Switzerland. Initially expected in the fall of 2025, the results of this research, in the form of a call for witnesses, will be published in the spring of 2026.
